A Holter monitor is a small device connected to electrodes on your skin that makes a continuous recording of your heart rhythm. It is used to detect any abnormal heart rhythms and can also be correlated with any symptoms such as dizziness or palpitations you may have to determine if they are related to abnormal heart rhythm.
What To Expect:
- You will need to wear loose fitting clothing with a button up shirt.
- In the afternoon of the first day of your exam, you will spend approximately 15 minutes having the electrodes applied and learning about your monitor.
- Return the next morning between 7:30 and 11:00 am to have the electrodes and monitor removed by the technologist.
Please do not apply oils or lotions the day of the exam. We may require you to shave small areas of body hair for electrode placement.
