Please note that this dedicated X-ray imaging facility will be closed for lunch from Monday – Friday between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Can I get an X-ray without a referral in Alberta?

No, it is a legal requirement that you have a requisition from your doctor to get the test done. However, there is an exception for women over 50 years of age that are seeking a mammogram and qualify for the test.

Do X-rays cost money in Alberta?

No, with an Alberta health care card, or a health card from elsewhere in Canada, X-ray exams and ultrasounds are covered under your health care. If you do not have a valid health care card, you may be charged at the time of your appointment. Prices may vary.

How do I get an X-ray in Alberta?

Choose your nearest Insight Medical Imaging office and bring your requisition papers with you. Insight offers walk-in X-ray imaging in 14 different locations. Make sure you have your Alberta health care card and photo ID ready upon arrival.
