Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Please arrive 15 minutes early for your exam
This allows time for check-in, registration, and any necessary preparation. Arriving early helps ensure your appointment begins on time and supports a smooth experience for all patients. Arriving late increases your chances of us cancelling or rescheduling your exam for another day.
PRP Procedure:
- Refrain from taking NSAIDs 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks post-injection
- Continue low-dose aspirin if prescribed by a physician
- Cease anticoagulation/antiplatelet therapy for tenotomy
- Do not take vitamin E or fish oil for at least 3 days prior to injection
- If you are having PRP to the hips or knees, please bring a pair of crutches to your appointment. If you are having PRP to the ankles or feet, please bring an air-cast or a pair of crutches to your appointment.
- Eat a small snack 1 hour prior to treatment (to minimize vasovagal reactions)
- Make sure you are well-hydrated prior to your appointment by drinking more water the day before your appointment and continue to drink water before you have your blood drawn
- Bring your requisition (unless your physician already submitted it on your behalf), Alberta Health Care card (or out-of-town province health care card), and photo identification with you to your exam!
- We are a scent-free environment. Please refrain from from using perfumes or heavily scented products when you or your care giver enter our clinics. Many of our staff are sensitive to perfumes and scented products. Using perfumes or heavily scented products may disrupt the completion of your exam.
Did you know, patients who forget their requisition will likely have to defer their exam?
