Radiologists

Insight Medical Imaging is a radiologist-owned and operated practice. We’re not only a diagnostic imaging provider for Albertans, we’re also a talent destination for the best and brightest in the industry.

We have a blended clinic and hospital-based practice with 27 radiologist partners and associates. Our multi-modality clinics are located throughout the capital region and offer access to 1.5T MRI, 64-slice CT, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, nuclear medicine, pain management, and women’s imaging.

All of our radiologists are registered members with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and we encourage all of our partners and associates to continue their medical education through subspecialty training in modalities of interest.

Job Description

Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be the initial point of contact for staff and customers/partners with technical issues or concerns via phone calls and helpdesk tickets/emails - including onsite visits within the greater Edmonton area and periodic visits to other locations within Alberta. Various project work ensures a constantly evolving environment. Think ‘Jack of all trades – master of some’ meets ‘IT Ninja’.

This position will work Monday to Friday with some rotating on-call evening and weekend work.

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Anything that plugs into a wall/runs on battery may need your expertise, from run of the mill PC hardware to environmental monitoring devices, surveillance systems, electronic display signage, and much more.
  • Triage notifications from monitoring systems
  • Monitor systems manually as per policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot issues - aiming to resolve most items, with an escalation path available when needed.
  • Identify recurring issues and determine solutions
  • Handling Moves/Adds/Changes of users and equipment (desktops, laptops, phones, printers, scanners, medical equipment).
  • Processing backup tapes.
  • Creation of documentation and help guides, including instructional videos.
  • Asset procurement / inventory
  • Supporting industry-specific and custom-built applications
  • Handle 'fixups' in RIS/PACS, ensuring data integrity is always paramount.
  • Assist our customers (patients and physicians) with specific technical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule (one-week rotation).

 Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of computer troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Basic to Intermediate understanding of server technology, as well as network topology and concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN).
  • Familiarity with PACS and/or RIS (Radiology Information System) is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with any of the following would be beneficial: scripting, Iguana Interface Engine, Xmedius Fax, VOIP (Avaya), call centers (Touchpoint), Office 365, SharePoint, Dynamics, Wi-Fi (Aruba, Airwave), Clearpass NAC, encryption, Linux, MS SQL, VMWare/virtualization, Palo Alto firewalls, Traps endpoint security, and MDM.

Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be able to take ownership of our networking and telephony infrastructure – while also assisting team members with the remainder. Are you a Network Ninja? Will be expected to drive towards continuous improvement of the technology and its use within the organization. Ability to lift Thor’s hammer optional, but highly desired. Must be comfortable acting as an escalation point for Helpdesk and other team members, with responsibility for resolving all technical issues raised by staff, customers/partners, the Borg, and monitoring systems.

  • Planning/configuration/maintenance of our Palo Alto firewalls and Aruba switch infrastructure – with a goal of zero business downtime, utilizing redundancy (equipment/services) as appropriate.
  • Managing a company-wide VOIP phone system, including call center and faxing.
  • Additionally, anything that plugs into a wall/runs on battery may need your expertise, from run of the mill PC hardware to environmental monitoring devices, surveillance systems, electronic display signage, Windows/Linux servers and much more.
  • Raising challenging issues to vendor support, escalating as needed, ensuring timely resolution to complex problems.
  • Writing scripts (primarily PowerShell and bash) for IT alerts and systems management.
  • Working with staff to identify and understand business processes, with a goal of continual improvement and optimization, including the deployment of new technologies.
  • Creating/reviewing/updating business cases, test plans, root cause analysis, and other such documentation.
  • Developing and executing business continuity processes.
  • Periodic review and creation of policies and procedures.

Job Description

Provide high-quality radiological examinations, with minimal supervision and or direction. Provide safe and efficient radiological services with minimal patient discomfort.

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and performs a variety of standardized and/or complex procedures as set forth by the Radiologists and our referring Physicians.
  • Responsible for the operation and basic maintenance of all equipment.
  • DI Equipment: Must have a working knowledge of all equipment and ensure all units are functioning correctly.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety and the general care and cleanliness of the radiographic area, with particular attention to radiation safety and infection control.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and all DI office duties.
  • Instructs patients on examination requested.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and students, as requested by X-Ray Supervisor
  • Attention to procedures and department orientation.
  • Maintains quality control in performance of all procedures.
