Bone Scan
- Inform the technologist if you are claustrophobic before you begin your exam
- Inform the technologist if there is any chance you may be pregnant or if you are currently breastfeeding.
- You may eat, drink, and take your medications as usual before, during, and after your exam — there are no restrictions.
- Please drink 3 cups of water about 1–2 hours before your appointment so you arrive well hydrated.
- We do not require you to have a full bladder for this test.
- Please arrive 15 minutes early, bring your requisition (unless your physician already submitted it on your behalf), Alberta Health Care card (or out of town province health care card), and photo identification with you to your exam!
- This exam requires a radiopharmaceutical injection. For breastfeeding patients, click on the link for recommended breastfeeding guidelines.
