Lung Ventilation and Perfusion Scan
Please arrive 15 minutes early for your exam
This allows time for check-in, registration, and any necessary preparation. Arriving early helps ensure your appointment begins on time and supports a smooth experience for all patients. Arriving late increases your chances of us cancelling or rescheduling your exam for another day.
- If you are on oxygen, you will need to bring your own oxygen tank for the exam.
- If you have not had a chest x-ray within 24 hours of your appointment, we will need to perform one with your lung ventilation and perfusion scan. Chest x-rays are done on-site and usually only take a few minutes.
- Inform the technologist if there is any chance you may be pregnant or if you are currently breastfeeding.
- Inform the technologist if you are claustrophobic before you begin your exam.
- Bring your requisition (unless your physician already submitted it on your behalf), Alberta Health Care card (or out of town province health care card), and photo identification with you to your exam!
- This exam requires a radiopharmaceutical injection. For breastfeeding patients, click on the link for recommended breastfeeding guidelines.
- We are a scent-free environment. Please refrain from from using perfumes or heavily scented products when you or your care giver enter our clinics. Many of our staff are sensitive to perfumes and scented products. Using perfumes or heavily scented products may disrupt the completion of your exam.
Did you know, patients who forget their requisition will likely have to defer their exam?
